THANK YOU!!! Happy New Year Friends

I just wanted to thank you all for the amazing support you've given me the last year. One year ago I had 90 Facebook fans. Today, I have well over 5000. Thank you for making the CMLD an awesome community for fun, games, crochet support, and quite frankly a great place to go and talk to my friends <3 I have to say, there is NOTHING I love more than seeing the finished products you have made from my patterns, and I am so proud that many of you have been able to use them for your own businesses. I am lucky to know such great business women, mothers, grandmmothers, and of crocheters!!!!! To a new year of fabulous new designs, textures, ventures, and friends

Merry Christmas, and a free pattern to you!

Pearly Girly Headband

Skill Level: beginner

Materials:5.50 mm crochet hook
                30-60 Craft pearls
                Beading elastic
Brush suri or mohair yarn (any delicate weight yarn will work, these are just preferred)
                Tapestry needle

Average Head Sizes:
Preemies- 9-12"
0-3 month -13" - 14"
3-6 month- 14" - 17 "
6-12 month-16" - 19 "
Toddler-small child-18" to 20 "
child-preteen-19" - 20 1/2"
preteen to adult-20 1/2 - 22.5"

Headband
Cut the Elastic approximate 2-3 inches shorter than the desired head circumference. If you don't know how big the person's head is, use the average head sizes listed above

Knot one end of the elastic so you are able to start adding pearls and they won't fall off

String pearls on to the elastic, You'll want to make sure that you add enough pearls that the headband looks full when stretched, but don't over do it so it is too full.

tie both ends of elastic together securely to form headband

Rose

If you are using mohair opposed to brushed suri, you'll want to double up strands to give the flower a little more girth

Ch40

3dc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in next ch, *3dc in next ch, sl st in next ch* Rep from * across to end of row fasten off leaving 15" end

holding one end end in your hand, start wrapping the crochet work counter clockwise around the center. Once you have the rose shaped, secure shape with a tapestry needle and the 15" end

Finishing

Sew 3 craft pearls to the center of the rose, sew rose to headband, fasten off and weave in all ends

Jewel Flapper

Ok friends, as far as this pattern goes, I don't know what i am doing with it yet. Initially, I offered it as a promotion. Then I had several customers requesting it in my shop because they didn't have facebook. So I set up a couple listings for those customers that wanted to purchase it. Per etsy, I cannot set up a listing that someone doesn't purchase or direct traffic to another site. That is why it wasn't offered for free in that location or directed elsewhere for the product.

Rightfully so, a few customers that had purchased this previously were upset when I set it up on my blog. Since I can't make it right for everyone, the pattern is being discontinued to everyone for the time being.  I do my best to be generous to my fans/customers offering replacement patterns, continuous freebies, and much lower prices than my competitors. <3 <3 Lesson learned I guess. Keep an eye out for future offers ~dusty

What if???

I found this great site, that is super fun!!
You can paste in your picture of several eras of highschool portraits and see what you would have looked like :)

This is me in 1974 if I would have been alive LOL

check it out  http://www.yearbookyourself.com/

Hooking the first blog post:)

Let me begin with the fact that I am the least organized person on the planet. So if you are looking for a beautiful blog thats a pleasure to the eye- this to say the least is not it LOL.

I love to crochet and create unique and beautiful things. Those of you that follow me on facebook and etsy have seen my work and know how much I enjoy it !!

so lets start this off right  with a free pattern (always my pleasure). Stay tuned for some great new designs coming out shortly !!!

Pattern is written for kindle cozy but if measure what ever media you are making it for and follow instructions
Materials
5.50 mm crochet hook
100 yds of yarn ( i used a peaches and cream cotton yarn. it tends to be a little stiffer and hold its shape, but an acrylic yarn will make its stretchier and snugger)
tapestry needle
Measurements
The smaller kindle measures 7.5" x 4.8"
The larger kindle  measures 10.4" x 7.2"
since every crocheter's gage is a bit different you will start by chaining just over the width of whichever kindle /nook/ ipad or media you have.
directions are for the smaller kindle, larger kindle instructions are in ()
chain for 5.5" (8")
R1) HDC ( half double crochet) in 2nd chain from hook, hdc in each chain to end of row. turn
R2) ch1, Hdc in each stitch across. turn
repeat R2 until piece measures 15.5" (21")  from beginning
fold project in half. Sew up the two side seams. weave in all ends and turn inside out
to include loop on top sl st in center of one side of opening. chain5, sl st on same side of project to close loop. add button to front for loop
insert kindle. enjoy :)
