Extra Bulky Button Beanie

I love the look of extra bulky yarn but sometimes its unfriendly to work with :) hopefully this is a fun and easy project for you<3

Skill: Easy

Materials: 5.50 mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
1 skein size 6 extra bulky yarn, I used lion's brand Thick and Quick
1 large button

Gauge: 4dc=2inches

Newborn 

**First part of hat is worked in rounds, place marker if necessary**

ch2

R1)8hdc in 2nd ch from hook (8hdc)

R2)2hdc in each st around (16hdc)

R3)Rep R2, sl st in last st to join. (32 hdc)

R4)Ch2 (counts as first dc now and throughout), dc in each remaining st around, join with sl st in top of ch2 

R5)Rep R4 until piece measures 4.5 inches from crown of hat 

R6)ch1, sc in each st around, sl st in beg sc to join 

fasten off  

0-3 month

R1)9hdc in 2nd ch from hook (9hdc)

R2)2hdc in each st around (18hdc)

R3)hdc in each st around (18hdc)

R4)2hdc in each st around, sl st in last st to join. (36 hdc)

R5)Ch2 (counts as first dc now and throughout), dc in each remaining st around, join with sl st in top of ch2 

R6)Rep R5 until piece measures 5.5 inches from crown of hat 

R7)ch1, sc in each st around, sl st in beg sc to join 

fasten off  

3-6 Month

Sew large button where desired on hat
